Assessment and selection of staff follows the principles and recommendations of “The Report of the Committee into the selection, development and management of staff in Children’s Homes 1992 – Choosing with Care.”
Care staff undertake a four-week training programme, which includes modules relating to working with challenging young people, safeguarding, anti-bullying etc. Staff do not have access to young people until they have successfully completed full security screening, are in possession of an enhanced DBS and have successfully passed all elements of the training programme. They then undertake QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care for Children and Young People.
