Safeguarding

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. Homes2Inspire is committed to the safe care and protection of children and young people at all times.

We have robust systems to ensure that safeguarding issues are responded to promptly and effectively by experienced safeguarding specialists. This includes a well-established on-call team who are available to respond to out of hours incidents.

The best interests of the child or vulnerable adult is always at the centre of our decision making. We are committed to open and transparent information sharing with all safeguarding agencies including local authorities, the police and health services.

We recognise that an essential component of safeguarding practice is safe recruitment. Our recruitment process strictly observes legislation, guidance and recommendations detailed within the Children Act (2004), Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), Safeguarding and Safer Recruitment in Education, the Munro Review of Child Protection (2011), Recruiting Safely Guidance (2011), Lost in Care: Leaning the Lessons (2000) and the Bichard Inquiry (2004). All staff are subject to robust vetting before they begin work in our homes and services. This vetting includes: Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, reference checks and telephone verification and a review of employment history.

All staff are also provided with comprehensive safeguarding training, relevant to their role. This ensures that they know how to recognise the signs of potential abuse, support children and young people who report abuse, and take action to prevent abuse. All staff are also given guidance on how to raise concerns or whistle blow if they are ever concerned about the practice of a colleague or manager.
