What better way to keep busy in the summer holidays than to climb up one of the highest points in Leicestershire!
Our amazing Danetree House team and our young person got up extra early and took a trip to Leicestershire to walk the Beacon Hills.
Beacon Hill is the second highest point in Leicestershire, standing 245m high (802 feet), and is the site of a Bronze Age hill fort. Beacon Hill’s volcanic rocks are rich in fossils and go back 600 million years, making them among the oldest in England. The rocks that crop out on Beacon Hill are some of the oldest rocks in England and Wales and formed when fine, volcanic ash settled in an ocean some 600 million years ago.
They even go to see some alpacas and cows along the way, all to the soundtrack of the one and only Taylor Swift to get them through the walk!
The day was finished off with a yummy ice cream and some more Taylor Swift tunes on the way home!
